History

In retrospect, August of 2000 may not have been the best time to begin a new company. Austin was on the brink of the dot-com bust and the entire economy soon would slow along with the technology sector. Our firm was started by four professionals with a “can-do” spirit and a philosophy of doing business a different way. With the hard work and dedication of this small group, Bay & Associates, Inc. was soon thriving and growing during a time when other firms were struggling.


Ed Bay brought more than 20 years of mechanical engineering and project management experience to his new firm, and it delivered what clients were looking for: engineering solutions tailored to meet their needs, budgets and expectations.


The result was happy clients and a solid foundation of return business. And that return business—which continues to hit 90% or better—fueled growth. Bay & Associates, Inc. now employs a full time staff of 41, including six licensed professional engineers and 11 LEED AP professionals.

The goal at Bay & Associates, Inc. is always to provide a “high positive” experience to our clients, regardless of the type of project.


We begin by listening. Then we deliver superior consulting engineering services based on your needs. We keep you updated—communication is always open. We meet project deadlines. And we’re there for you even after the project is finished. We keep our promises.

From the Bay perspective:

EXPERIENCE
As the principal and founder of Bay & Associates, Inc., Ed is responsible for the operations of the firm, client relations, business development, and project management. Ed also is responsible for quality control of all projects we design. Prior to establishing Bay & Associates, Inc. on August 1, 2000, Ed gained twenty plus years of mechanical engineering and project management experience with different Houston- and Austin-based consulting engineering firms. Ed has worked with some of the leading national developers and architects on a wide array of projects. He’s been practicing his mechanical specialty since 1982.

EXPERIENCE
One of the founding members of Bay & Associates, Inc., Tim has worked with some of the area’s leading developers and architects. Tim has a diverse background in mechanical design, with more than 30 years’ experience at Houston- and Austin-based consulting engineering firms. He is involved in every facet of his projects at Bay & Associates, Inc., including marketing, project design and performance criteria development, preparation of project specifications, overseeing the design effort, quality control, and supervising the contract administration phase of the project. Tim has been practicing his mechanical specialty since 1982.

EXPERIENCE
Thad is responsible for project management, electrical engineering design, preparing project specifications, and providing contract administration. Thad’s project experience is diverse and includes working on corporate facilities, high-rise office buildings, manufacturing facilities, religious facilities, and data centers with some of the leading developers and architects in Central Texas. Prior to graduation, Thad worked for 10 years as a licensed electrician installing electrical systems in various commercial and industrial construction projects. Thad has been practicing his electrical specialty since 1995.
